Privacy Policy — AppLock – Lock Apps & Privacy

Effective date: 5 November 2026

AppLock – Lock Apps & Privacy (package name diennguyen.applockpixel) is made by Dien Nguyen and distributed at applock.diennguyenaz.com. This policy explains how the app handles data.

Summary

AppLock has no server, no ads, no analytics or tracking, and sends none of your data off your phone. We don't collect, sell or share user data.

Data stored on your device

The following stays in the app's private storage on your phone:

  • Your PIN, stored only as a salted one-way hash. The PIN itself is never stored or logged.
  • Your locked-app list and settings (language, theme, re-lock timing, icon disguise).
  • Intruder photos (optional): only if you turn the feature on and grant camera permission. A front-camera photo is taken after 5 wrong PIN attempts in a row, and only the 20 most recent are kept. You can delete one or all of them in the app.

Network access

This version does not connect to the Internet. Every feature is free, so the app uses no payment system. The package still declares the Internet permission because it bundles Google's billing library, but that library is never started in the version distributed here.

Permissions and their purpose

  • Usage access: detects which app is open so the lock screen appears for the apps you chose. Processed entirely on the device; no usage history is stored.
  • Display over other apps: shows the PIN screen on top of a locked app.
  • Foreground service and notifications: keeps protection running and shows the persistent notification Android requires. If notifications are allowed, the app may also show a morning greeting, scheduled on the device.
  • Ignore battery optimization: prevents some phone brands from stopping the protection service.
  • Run at startup: turns protection back on after the phone restarts.
  • Biometrics (optional): unlock with fingerprint, or face on supported phones. Recognition is done by Android; the app never receives fingerprint or face data.
  • Camera (optional): used only for intruder photos as described above.

Android backup

If Android backup is turned on, the operating system may include the app's data (including the items above) in a backup stored in your Google account, according to your device settings. This is handled by Android and Google; we have no access to it. You can turn backup off in your phone's Settings.

Deleting your data

You can delete intruder photos in the app. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its data in Settings, removes all AppLock data from the phone.

Children

AppLock is not directed at children and collects no personal data from anyone, children included.

Changes and contact

This policy may be updated when the app changes. The latest version is always on this page. For privacy questions, email diennguyendhv@gmail.com.
